“Cello, you’ve got a bass”- by Emily Lin

As someone who has been on a worship team for many years, it’s been a great experience seeing how each instrument and musician contributes to the band as a whole. I have also been able to reflect on my own contribution as a bassist. The role of a bass guitar is to create a foundation of sound and rhythm alongside the drums. It fills the space between other instruments and keeps the tempo steady. Within worship music, the bass is not meant to be front and center or flashy. Instead, I contribute by establishing solid ground for the other musicians to build off of so we may lead as a team in glorifying God.
