Psalm 33:3 says to “play skillfully on the strings.” What does that mean? As a guitar player, this means practicing my instrument so that when I am playing, I can focus on giving God the glory instead of being consumed by the technical aspects of the songs. The guitar is great for adding melodies that complement the vocalist, to create texture, and to emphasize the dynamics of a song. By using our skills, we can ensure that the message of each song is at the forefront of everyone’s minds as we lift up the Name of Jesus.
